Visual Kei

Visual Kei is a musical movement that emerged in Japan in 1980. It is a musical style that encompasses various styles such as rock, metal, punk, indie, alternative, and other musical styles.
Some bands like Malice Mizer and Moi dix Moi come to use instruments such as violin, cello, piano, organ and even the harpsichord (instruments normally used in classical or contemporary music.)
One of the peculiarities of this movement is the way artists dress, sometimes other lighter extravagantly but always showy and flashy. The artists try to take the music side by side with your look.

The pioneering bands of this movement are, X JAPAN, D, D’ERLANGER, NIGHTMARE, DEAD END, BUCK-TICK, Kamaitachi and COLOR.
The movement became popular in Japan in the mid 1990s with bands like, BUCK-TICK, X JAPAN, LUNA SEA, Kuroyume, Malice Mizer, SHAZNA. In 2000 spread throughout Europe and America creating a solid fan base by bands like Nightmare, Moi dix Mois, D’espairsRay, BLOOD, Art Cube, Kagerou, Kagrra,, Onmyo-Za, Alice Nine and the GazettE.

Visual Kei in Portugal

Some say that the visual kei came to Portugal in 2006 in JROCK PARTY, having obtained immediately its first fans.
Today there are influential bands, scattered Portugal such as Forgoten Lotus, kuroi star, Karuniiro, nobliez, among others
At this time there are 2 promoting visual kei in Portugal, the JMC and the Visual Jam.

Mirinel and visual kei

Ricardo Pereira (Mirinel) is a Portuguese artist whose musical influences Visual Kei.
Born in Aveiro in 1990. His career as a musician begins when complete eleven years old in AMCSB (Musical and Cultural Association St. Bernard) and thus started their musical training and classes where you learn some instruments such as trumpet, bagpipes, flute, lyre and some percussion instruments.
At seventeen starts earning interest in rock music, metal and Asian, they begin to sing and record later making its disclosure on Internet sites.
At eighteen years of age creates a band of J-Music. He collaborated with the following following bands: Ichibu Gakutai and Nibiru’s and Noble’Ciel.
At the moment is to do a solo career.

Currently working themes in Japanese and English, but the Portuguese priviilegia taking advantage of this to promote Japanese music style in Portugal.
Its visual style denotes influences of Kotev Kei Eroguro kei and visual kei Soft.
Currently has some reported issues, and despite the difficulties inherent in this type of project, does not give up, and publishes even with a lower quality than he wanted, not letting the difficulties prevent you of getting further their work.
